Injury: Fracture of C-6 vertebrae
Cause: Surfing accident
Place: Malibu, CA
Date: March 25, 1996
Jesse, a promising athlete featured in Surfer magazine's list of the top 100 young surfers, suffered a spinal cord injury while surfing. Jesse was attempting to surf out of the tube of a wave when his head was slammed into a sandbar. The resulting fractured cervical vertebrae left Jesse with full range of motion above his chest and in his arms, but limited functionality in his hands and below his chest.
SCORE was pleased to assist Jesse and his family with their fundraising efforts.
