Injury: Fracture of C-5/6 vertebrae
Cause: Hiking accident
Place: Reno, NV
Date: December 25, 2004
On Christmas Day 2004, Matt was skiing in Reno, NV. While attempting to hike out of a dangerous situation, he slipped and fell approximately 40 feet down the side of a mountain. During his fall, he struck ice and rocks and fractured his C5 & 6 vertebrae.
This accident has left Matt paralyzed from the chest down and without use of his hands. Matt and his wife, Elizabeth, have steadily adapted to his life as a quadriplegic. He has returned to work in advertising sales at Bonus.com, and she is doing contract personnel recruiting.
SCORE is pleased to provide Matt with a grant to purchase a storage shed in which his specialized equipment can be stored safely.
