Matt 'The Cat' Maw
Injury: Fracture of C-3/4 vertebrae
Place: Roy, UT
Date: February 23, 2000
Matt 'The Cat' Maw was the Weber State University athletic mascot as well as a world-class tumbler and Olympic hopeful before his injury. During a practice at Flyer's Power Tumbling where he taught gymnastics, Matt landed on his head and incurred a spinal cord injury. Although Matt has regained some movement in his arms, physicians said he has lost all movement in his legs and probably will not walk until medical advances are discovered.
Matt and his family incurred substantial costs as he was not covered by health insurance, and his family needed to modify his grandparents' home and buy a van. SCORE was pleased to assist in defraying these expenses and wishes Matt well in his continued rehabilitation.
